Safety
No official source publishes lifeguard staffing, designated swimming zones, or beach-closure protocols specific to Kozhikode Beach. In the same district, four people, including two women, drowned off Thikkodi beach — a different location about 36 km north — on January 27, 2025, after being swept away by strong waves; the rescue was carried out by local people and fishermen rather than official lifeguards. On the night of October 15-16, 2025, the sea receded roughly 200 metres along a 1.5 km stretch of South Beach; officials called it a rare tidal phenomenon after CMFRI scientists and the local taluk tahsildar inspected the site.

For a sit-down meal or Kozhikkodan Halwa — a maida-flour, ghee, and jaggery-or-sugar sweet linked to Arab spice traders and, by legend, first made for the Zamorin of Kozhikode — head to SM Street (Mittai Theruvu), a 2.1 km market street in the city center.
