Sunset Beach sits on English Bay in Vancouver's West End, between Coal Harbour and downtown to the east, Stanley Park to the northwest, and Kitsilano across False Creek to the southwest. Safety
The most concrete safety issue on record here is water quality, not surf or currents. Sunset Beach has been closed to swimming for high E. coli counts at least twice: in August 2018 (alongside English Bay and Jericho Beach) and again in July 2022, when repeat samples came back at more than double the province's single-sample safety limit at the time.
